Várkert Bazár
The day-long conference will take place in of Budapest’s most unique jewellery boxes, the Várkert Bazár (or Castle Garden Bazaar in English). The building is located on the west bank of the Danube, overlooking the landscape of Pest. As a one-of-a-kind architectural solution, it provides both a historical and a cultural experience for its visitors. Várkert Bazár – along with the Banks of the Danube and the Buda Castle Quarter – became part of the UNESCO World Heritage in 1987.
Based on the plans of Miklós Ybl, a well-known and celebrated architect of the time, the neo-renaissance style complex was built from 1875 to 1883. The building was later fully reconstructed in 2011, extended with multiple exhibition halls and a multifunctional event hall as well, all the while staying true to original vision of Ybl.
Várkert Bazár hosts numerous cultural events every year, such as musical, dance, literary and film-screening events. Situated in the middle of the Budapest, the complex is easily accessible and close to the vibrant buzz of the City, but can also offer the possibility of a break from the noise of everyday life.
