Decision of the Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) Vj-184/2005: TIENS Hungary Kft.

The Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority (Gazdasági Versenyhivatal - GVH) established in its decision, issued on 6 March 2006, that TIENS Hungary Kft. infringed the provisions on the prohibition of unfair manipulation of consumer choice of the Hungarian Competition Act. TIENS Hungary Kft. attributed medicinal effect to its products, despite the fact that these products did not possess such a feature.

The Competition Council of the GVH prohibited the continuation of the conduct which violated the provisions of the Hungarian Competition Act, ordered TIENS Hungary Kft. to inform its consumers, which also carry out retail activities towards end consumers, about the present decision of the Competition Council of the GVH and imposed a fine of HUF 20 million on TIENS Hungary Kft.
