Budapest, 26 October 2022 – Both Vice-Presidents of the Competition Authority will continue their work on behalf of Hungarian consumers, after President of the Republic Katalin Novák reappointed László Bak and András Tóth as Vice Presidents of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH). András Tóth will again fulfil the duties of the president of the Competition Council as well.
At the proposal of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, President of the Republic Katalin Novák confirmed László Bak and András Tóth, the current Vice Presidents of the GVH, in office for the next 6 years.
The President of the Hungarian Competition Authority, Csaba Balázs Rigó, proposed the continuation of the work of his two deputies to the Prime Minister, as both professionals have contributed greatly to the protection of the Hungarian people and the market competition. Prior to the Prime Minister's proposal, the National Assembly's Economic Affairs Committee made a public hearing for the two candidates, supporting both their nominations and the appointment of András Tóth as chair of the Competition Council.
András Tóth and László Bak have been the Vice-Presidents of the Hungarian Competition Authority since 2010 and 2016 respectively, managing the activities of the Competition Council and the Authority's competition investigations. During their tenure, international surveys have shown that competition indicators in the Hungarian market have improved in all respects, in most cases above the EU average. Their work so far has contributed greatly to the professional standing of the Hungarian Competition Authority, which was recognised last year when Hungary hosted the Annual Conference of the International Competition Network.
The CVs of László Bak and András Tóth are available on the Authority's website.
