The amendment of the Memorandum of Understanding with regard to the OECD-GVH Regional Centre for Competition in Budapest (RCC) was signed by the OECD and the GVH

Representatives from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Gazdasági Versenyhivatal (GVH - Hungarian Competition Authority) signed a contract, in which they amended the Memorandum of Understanding with regard to the OECD-GVH Regional Centre for Competition in Budapest (RCC).

For the signing the OECD was represented by Mr. Richard Boucher, Deputy Secretary-General; Ms. Caroly Ervin, Director of the Financial and Enterprise Affairs Directorate; Ms. Patricia Heriard-Dubreuil, Deputy- Executive of the Competition Department. Representing the GVH were Mr. Miklós Juhász, the President of the GVH; Mr. András Tóth, the Vice- President of the GVH and Mr. Sándor Simon, the Attorney Ambassador from the Permanent Delegation of Hungary to the OECD.

The President of the GVH emphasised that one of the most important aims of the RCC is to disseminate the understanding of competition law of the East-, and Central European countries. Therefore, the GVH still strongly supports the permanent operation of the RCC. According to the Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD, the RCC pursues a highly valuable activity from the perspective of the OECD, since it significantly contributes to the dissemination of the OECD best practices focusing on non-member states.

The main objective of the RCC (established on the 16th of February 2005) is to foster the development of competition policy, competition law and competition culture in the East, South- East and Central European regions. The RCC - during its 6 years of work - has organised 52 seminars and conferences, with the participation of fifteen hundred representatives of competition authorities and judges and hundreds of speakers. The RCC aims to continue its high standard of work, focusing especially on facilitative activities, in order to contribute to economic growth in the region.
